Monitoring and Measurement of Processes

In order to have production/service control, information must be available that describes the characteristics of the product or service and the suitable requirements (equipment for production) for operations, as well as measuring and monitoring equipment. This is where your quality control plan, which has been expanded to a management system control plan, can be used, listing all processes, their risks and control methods.

Ongoing monitoring, tied to your management system control plan, can help you to identify and improve your processes, regarding, for example, the need to increase resources or change to automation or new technology, so that you can streamline and improve performance at your organization.

Process Monitoring Steps

1. Do a process map. This will help you visually see the dynamics of your processes and how they interrelate, as well as the number of steps required to complete each task. Time costs every company. Conduct inspections (quality, environment, health and safety).

2. Review the data that was tied to the monitoring of the process to analyze performance.

3. Identify improvement opportunities based on the evaluation.

4. Make improvement changes in the management system for the new way of doing business.

5. Monitor changes to ensure benefit to the company.

Product/Service

Monitoring and control of suitable parameters and product characteristics ensure products/service meet the specified customer requirements. Conformance with workmanship standards is confirmed through inspection and supplier reports.

Inspection records and test results need to be maintained as objective evidence. Analysis of test or inspection results is used to identify problems. The record of product monitoring needs to include the person viewing the product, confirming the nonconforming product, and also the person authorizing release.
