Here, the effect of extreme selfishness on the information dissemination is evaluated with numerical results by the presented model.

As mentioned above, the extreme selfishness is divided into two aspects, where the first aspect is related to p_{1} and the second aspect is related to p_{2}. Thus, to evaluate the effect of the first aspect of extreme selfishness, five types of p_{1} is chosen for

comparison. Let p_{2} vary from 0.0001 to 0.001 to investigate the effect the second aspect of extreme selfishness. Here, p_{n}f = 0 and T = 5000. Based on these settings, the effect of extreme selfishness is shown in Fig. 3.4.

From Fig. 3.4, it can be observed that the extreme selfishness restrains the dissemination of information. Firstly, when p_{2} is fixed (e.g., p_{2} = 5 x 10^{-4}), the value of F(T) gradually decreases with the increase of the value of p_{1}. Thus, the first aspect of extreme selfishness can hinder the information dissemination. Secondly, when the level of the first aspect of extreme selfishness is constant (e.g., p_{1} = 0.0006), the value of F(T) also decreases with the increase of the value of p_{2}, which means that the second aspect of the extreme selfishness also has a negative effect on the information dissemination.

Next, the relationship between the extreme selfishness and X is investigated. Firstly, the experiment on the first aspect of the extreme selfishness is carried out, where p_{2} = 0, p_{in} = 1, and p_{1} increases from 0 to 0.005. Then, experiment on the second aspect of the extreme selfishness is implemented, where p1 = 0, T = 100, and p2 increases from 0 to 0.005.

Figure 3.5 shows the effect of the first aspect for extreme selfishness with different X. It indicates that all the three curves descend almost linearly withp_{1}, but the curve of smaller X is much more sensitive to the variation of p_{1}. Therefore, if X is smaller, the effect of the first aspect of extreme selfishness is larger. Figure3.6 shows the effect of the second aspect for extreme selfishness with different X, which illustrates the relationship between the second aspect of extreme selfishness and X. When X is larger, the network is much more robust to the weak selfishness. Accordingly, if X is smaller, the effect of the second aspect of extreme selfishness is more significant.
