Diet Stages Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding
Stages 1 and 2 are same as RYGB and sleeve gastrectomy (SG).
Stage 3: Days 11-14 Puree with high-protein smoothies. Pureed
chicken in soup, mashed tuna with mayo, cottage cheese with pureed peaches, protein smoothies, creamed soups, sugar-free popsicles
Eat 3-5 times/day. NO: fluids with meals Consume 48-60 oz. fluid/day
Stage 4: Days 15-30 Soft Cooked Foods: Scrambled egg, pureed/
chopped turkey or chicken or pork, cooked vegetables, ripe avocado, cooked or frozen pureed fruit, coffee/tea. Continue protein smoothies
Eat 3-5 times/day. NO: fluids with meals. Stage 5: 1-2 months Diet as tolerated: well cooked, soft meats,
cooked vegetables, soft fresh, or frozen fruits (no peels or seeds)
Eat 3-5 times/day. High-protein food at each meal. No fluids with meals
Stage 6: Laparoscopic Full liquid diet 1-2 days postfill before adjustable gastric advancing as tolerated
banding (LAGB) fill
